On Monday, Dec. 11, the AFL-CIO and Microsoft Corp. announced they are working together to develop a dialogue that will address how the growing use of AI will affect workers, and to involve them in how it is used and developed. It is the first partnership between a labor organization and a tech company to focus on AI. There are three goals they are working towards: 1) sharing info on AI tech trends with labor leaders 2) using worker perspectives and skills in AI development technology, and 3) helping to shape public policy that will support the tech skills and needs of frontline workers. Microsoft has also pledged to maintain neutrality regarding employees forming or joining unions.
