In a case fraught with numerous candidates and political surprises, two of New York’s largest unions, who backed Eric Adams in the 2021 mayoral election and were critical to ensuring his success, are this time setting their sights on Adrienne Adams, currently NYC Council Speaker, to run for mayor. But it’s not that simple. As usual, Trump’s lackeys are busy making everything more complicated than it has to be as they search for a new power grab. His DOJ is trying to get Eric Adams’ indictment for corruption dropped. Why on earth? Under the terms, it could be brought back, leaving Adams beholden to Trump, somewhat in the way the Mafia functions. Meanwhile, the power of the unions, as they brought Eric Adams to power, despite many other players with bigger war chests and higher name recognition, may do the same for Adrienne Adams.
