45,000 dockworkers who went on strike this past fall will go to the negotiating table again with port employers, vowing to strike again if port employers do not meet their demands. This possible strike would affect East and Gulf Coast ports this month. Talks between the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) and United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) resumed Jan. 2, but if no deal is reached, the deadline for the strike to begin is Jan.15. Automation is one of the major issues that has stood in the way of an agreement.
