The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) is declaring victory for all as a result of a recent NLRB ruling. The infamous mandatory captive audience “meetings” – where employees are forced to attend these employer-led propaganda sessions, have now been put on ice with the NLRB’s decision that such meetings are unlawful nationally. Many huge corporations have employed, at great cost, consultants and anti-union law firms to break the spirit of workers in their quest for unionization, and this is just one of their tactics. The NLRB ruling, titled The New Amazon.com Services LLC Ruling, will apply to all cases moving forward. IATSE President Matthew D. Loeb said, “Workers must be allowed to join together in unions free of employer interference or coercion.”
