In August, AFSCME members and union activists gathered in Calif., along with a large DC 37 group. Delegates showed up to choose who in the union would be best to lead in the coming four years. They are united in their efforts to keep Donald Trump from regaining the White House. He is known to be fiercely anti-union, and another term in office could spell disaster for worker rights. At the convention, DC 37 Executive Director Henry Garrido and SSEU Local 371 President Anthony Wells were re-elected to AFSCME’s Executive Board, and Garrido nominated AFSCME President Lee Saunders for another term. Saunders was overwhelmingly approved, as well as was the union’s Secretary-Treasurer.
