Workers for app-based restaurant delivery services scored a huge win when on Nov. 30 Appellate Division Justice Llinet M. Rosado upheld a new city law mandating a minimum wage for them. DoorDash, GrubHub and UberEats had filed suit after the Adams administration put the plan into action, but the workers have now sealed their victory. The pay is now $17.96/hr, to increase to $19.96 in 2025. The delivery apps had tried to argue that the new wage would discourage tipping and eliminate jobs, among other objections. The Commissioner for the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection said the law “will help lift thousands of New Yorkers and their families out of poverty.”
