The New York City Ballet and Local 802 of the AFM, which represents the Ballet’s orchestra, have finally reached a tentative deal for a new contract. It is the first one to be negotiated since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, which resulted in a huge financial hit as hundreds of performances were cancelled. Pending its expected ratification by members of Local 802, the musicians would receive a wage increase of about 22% over three years, the life of the contract. There will also be changes to the health-care plan, although those details have yet to be released.
