State Supreme Court Justice Nicholas Moyne ruled against delivery app companies Uber, DoorDash, and GrubHub on Thursday, September 28, in their bid to block NYC’s new minimum wage mandates for app-based delivery workers. The companies had sued the city in July, when the new rule was to go into effect. Now, these delivery workers must be paid a minimum pay rate, starting at $17.96/hr, increasing to $19.96 by April 2025. Currently, the average hourly pay for some workers is only $7.09.
