The Correction Officers’ Benevolent Association (COBA) has sued the Dept. of Corrections and the city. The suit was filed in State Supreme Court. In a stunning revelation of anti-union practices, COBA has brought to light the failure of the DOC to infom rank-and-file of their right to union representation when they are questioned about the use of force inside city jails. When questioned, workers were told to speak candidly to a Federal monitor, with no mention of their right to have union officials present. This directive came in communications to the workers using various means from a newly appointed DOC official, said COBA President Benny Boscio, Jr.
