WASHINGTON, DC — In celebration of Labor Day, the Labor Caucus Co-Chairs Representatives Debbie Dingell (D-MI), Steven Horsford (D-NV), Donald Norcross (D-NJ), and Mark Pocan (D-WI) released the following statement:
“Labor Day is a recognition of the contributions of hardworking men and women who built America and a celebration of the American labor movement. Throughout the history of the United States, unions have been critical to building the middle class by securing the 8-hour workday, establishing health and safety standards, and improving workers’ wages and benefits.
“Over the course of this year, workers have been fighting to raise wages and improve working conditions across all sectors of the economy. With public support for unions near all-time highs and a surging number of new unions forming across the country, we are thrilled to see a new generation of workers exercise their collective strength. This Labor Day, we want those workers to know they aren’t fighting alone.
“The Congressional Labor Caucus is standing up for all workers by elevating their voices in Congress and fighting to raise wages and benefits, improve working conditions, and guarantee a free and fair choice to join a union. As we work to advance the goals of the labor movement and prioritize the issues facing working families, the Labor Caucus wants to remind everyone that every worker deserves a good job with a living wage and that every worker deserves a union.
“From all of us to you, happy Labor Day!”
