After over 100 days on strike by the Writers Guild of America (WGA), negotiations between the union and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) have resumed. The months-long stalemate has visited financial fallout on the industry and those who service it, and increased after SAG-AFTRA members joined ranks with the writers. Both the AMPTP and the union declined to give details about the negotiations, the WGA telling its members that such a move was counterproductive. Major issues at stake include how writers are compensated for streaming shows, the use of AI, and the WGA demand for minimum staffing requirements in writers’ rooms.
