The employees at the world-famous Guggenheim Museum on Manhattan’s Upper East Side have ratified their first contract. They are the latest in a growing list of museums, many of them in New York City, and in other states, to unionize. The contract is with the United Automobile Workers (UAW) Local 2110. The Guggenheim workers voted by a 97% margin for the contract. Major wins include a minimum salary increase of 9%, an increase to some long-term employees’ retirement plan contributions, four weeks of paid parental leave, tuition reimbursement for professional development, and more.
