On Jan. 26, nurses across the nation rallied for safe staffing. The issue of staff-to-patient ratios is their number one cause, even above fair wages. The demonstrators were members of National Nurses United (NNU). Rallies and picketing took place in New York, Georgia, California, Arizona, Florida, Kansas, Missouri, Texas, and North Carolina. “On our national day of action, NNU members stand up for safe staffing models that adequately protect patients, nurses, and our communities against public health crises,” said NNU Executive Director Bonnie Castillo, RN.
