SAG-AFTRA and the National AFL-CIO both applauded the passage and signing into law of the Respect for Marriage Act. SAG-AFTRA released a statement expressing gratitude to six Senators who introduced the measure. “The Respect for Marriage Act will bring comfort not only to SAG-AFTRA Members, but also to millions of families across the country,” the statement read. National AFL-CIO President Liz Schuler said the Act, “enshrines long overdue protections for marriage equality into law.”
