Los Angeles, California – Workers at a Domino’s restaurant located at 3631 Crenshaw Blvd in Los Angeles, where four workers have tested positive for COVID-19 filed an emergency complaint with the Los Angeles County Public Health Department demanding county officials shut the store down.
“Instead of closing the store temporarily and allowing exposed workers to quarantine for 14 days with pay…Domino’s has stayed open without even providing protective equipment to workers or disinfecting the store,” the complaint, filed by delivery driver Angelica Olivares on behalf of herself and 10 coworkers reads.
“Workers are getting sick, and I am afraid customers will get sick too,” it continues. “We are serving food that hundreds and hundreds of people are eating. Domino’s will not do the right thing to protect us and our community unless you require them to. You must take immediate action to protect my coworkers and the public.”
Thirteen workers at the store are now on strike, a walkout that began when news came that the first worker had tested positive. In addition to the workers who have tested positive, at least four more workers are sick and exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19.
