Queens, NY – Sean Collins, linesman for Northline Utilities on Staten Island and a member of IBEW Local 3, died while helping others in Puerto Rico. Sean was scheduled to board a United Airlines flight to New York on February 19th. He never got onto the plane. On February 20th he was discovered dead in a car on the island.
Following the devastation of Hurricane Maria, Sean  went towards danger and destruction to help our fellow Americans  in Puerto Rico. He went to PR along with hundreds of union volunteers to assist in the restoration of services on the island. Working as a linesman and foreman for Northline Utilities, his experience was vast and skills critically needed in PR. He joined a delegation of IBEW 3 members that volunteered to work at restoring electrical power on Puerto Rico.

Representative Dan Donovan was very helpful in assisting Sean’s family with arrangement to bring Sean back to Staten Island. Congressman Donovan connected the family with PR Deputy Secretary of State Eduardo Arosemena-Munoz, who  was instrumental in facilitating the process in Puerto Rico.
