Washington, DC – Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa is vowing to keep pushing the controversial Keystone XL pipeline project despite a veto from President Barack Obama.
Keystone XL project supporters in the Senate tried to override the president’s veto, but that effort failed.
"Despite the veto, we will continue to work with legislators on both sides of the aisle to find a way to make this project a reality and bring good jobs to thousands of working men and women who desperately need them," Hoffa said in a statement.
Proponents of the Keystone XL project maintain that the plan to transport oil sands from Canada down to Texas, would create thousands of jobs if realized. Opponents, however, insist that the oil pipeline could turn out to be an environmental disaster and contribute to global climate change.
