The House of Representatives is planning to vote on controversial legislation called "Fast Track". The Bill gives Congress authority to pass trade agreements quickly and often in secret. Fast Track trade deals have provided multinational corporations the ability to move thousands of jobs from the U.S. to other countries and pay employees much lower wages.
Once Fast Track is enacted, an open door will be created to move jobs and U.S. Companies overseas. Under these deals, workers in third world countries are usually exploited.
We know from the failed trade deals like NAFTA that these agreements can have
a devastating impact on Americans. A bad deal can result in millions of jobs lost in our country and American workers becoming unemployed.
Instead of programs that will eliminate jobs from our shores, congress should be planning legislation that will encourage corporations to return jobs to the U.S.A.
