50,000 members of the Public Employees Federation, state employees, marched in Albany the week of Sept. 18 to raise awareness of bullying and harassment on the job. The workers say the problem has only gotten worse over the years. Wayne Spence, President of the union, said that retaliation against those who talk about what has happened to them has created a culture of fear. “People are afraid to speak up,” he said. State leaders have denied the problem, saying there is no clear definition of bullying. “We need to codify what bullying is,” added Pence.
