Monday, March 25, the 113th anniversary of the Triangle Fire was commemorated at the site where the tragedy took place on that day. 146 workers, mostly young women, died as a result of unsafe and illegal working conditions in the 1911 Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire. Some on the top floors of the factory building leapt to their deaths as fire ladders were not high enough to reach them. The awful event led to some important reforms for workers.
