Queens, NY – Have you ever been bitten by a mosquito? It may not hurt, you may never even know you have been bitten by the mosquito, but that one bite could ruin your whole life.
Mosquito’s have been a problem for centuries. First a disease called malaria broke out it killed millions of people. This new virus is even worse, it is called Zika. This virus does not affect the average healthy humans but for others it could be fatal.
The main problem is with un-born babies of pregnant women. When these babies are born they can have several amounts of defects such as brain damage, retina problems, vision problems, and even more faults can happen.
Graduate college students are working on a cure at Purdue University and many other colleges and labs around the world. Luckily we already have a vaccine for malaria and bug spray. However, there is always a new problem caused by mosquito’s. Sometimes these critters can cause death or injuries. So the battle against the mosquito continues.
