The Obama administration is preparing an executive order that would require any company with a federal contract to give employees paid sick leave. According to a “pre-decisional and deliberative” draft obtained by the New York Times, it would mandate that both contractors and subcontractors give seven days of paid time off a year for workers who are sick, going to the doctor, or taking care of a family member. Workers would also accrue credit for sick days they didn’t use. The Labor Department will issue official regulations by Sept. 30, 2016. Read more
