Staff at a Harlem charter school announced Friday that they want to join the teacher’s union.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo calls for tougher evaluations on teachers, echoing a similar proposal from Bloomberg. This comes before major layoffs in the public school system and would end the practice of “First In, Last Out.”

Recent college graduates in New York are (still) facing an increasingly difficult job market. 

According to the Labor Department, inflation is up by 3.2 percent in the past year and 0.4 percent in just the past month.

Yonkers public schools are the latest to fall prey to budget cuts and teacher layoffs. On Friday, more than 700 workers were cut.

In Valley Stream, a Target store will hold the company’s first union election since 1990.

Yesterday was the first ever Immigrant Workers’ RIghts Awareness Day.
