Senator Kristen Gillibrand has introduced a new program to revitalize manufacturing jobs in the New York area.

To deter massive layoffs, the Civil Service Employees Association agreed to large cuts in benefits and wages in a 5-year agreement with Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Legislative leaders are nearing an agreement on the controversial rent control regulations. The new bill appears to have a few strengthening features, but the Senate has not made any final decisions yet.  

The New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers state that they were hit with roughly 6,000 fines in two months to pressure them into supporting Mayor Bloomberg’s changes to the city taxi system.

Yesterday, 1,000 Chicago-based, public schoolteachers protested raises for school executives while their own salaries are frozen.
