The Public Employees Federation has agreed to wage freezes and changes to healthcare in order to save 1,000 jobs.  The Civil Service Employees Association has a similar plan.

The layoff of 4,100 teachers was averted by a last minute deal between the American Federation of Teachers and Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Unemployment for teenagers continues to rise.

Hospital workers at E.J. Noble protested a proposed contract on Friday that included them paying more for health care, plus a one-year wage freeze.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics found that there is very little turnover in the job market today, contributing to long-term unemployment.
