The Communications Workers of America speculates that Verizon is slow to respond to post-Irene damages as a way of punishing workers for the strike.

The president of Steelworkers Local 897 admits to embezzling union funds.

As current chairwoman of the National Labor Relations Board, Wilma B. Liebman, prepares to end her term, the board is quickly passing new decisions to make unionizing easier for workers.

In New York, government jobs are down by roughly 200,000.

As more and more low-income workers are eligible for Medicaid, concern rises among state and city politicians.
