Yesterday, Sotheby’s art auction house locked out 40 of its unionized employees after months of contact negotiations.

Employment in July grew at a slower rate than June, reports the New York Times.

HSBC is planning to lay off 30,000 workers across the globe.

A renovation and lay-offs for 150 workers has been put on hold for the Mastics-Moriches-Shirley Community Library in Long Island.

Yesterday, hundreds of unionized workers at Ground Zero walked off the job. Their contract expired a month ago, on July 1st.
