Phoenix, AZ – Even though Teamster Local 104 members are back to work after an unfair labor practices strike at US Foods in Phoenix Arizona they still have no new labor contract and unfair labor practice charges they've filed have not been resolved. Josh Graves is Business Agent for Teamsters 104.
[Josh Graves]: "We would like the company to reach out to us and try to negotiate a contract and try to resolve some of the unfair labor practice charges instead of hiring out of state replacement scab workers and hiring extra security and van deliveries and taking that money and giving it to their current employees and bargaining a fair contract for the employees and our members."
The Teamsters say US Foods has not bargained in good faith and has discriminated against workers "including disciplining workers for union activity, refusing to hire workers for their union affiliation, and denying workers access to their representatives".Graves says US Food customers and the public should urge the company to do the right thing.
[Josh Graves]: "We would urge the public to reach out to US Foods, because they service a lot of the schools, the military bases, the hospitals. You're talking about, you know they service key things to the community. And we have to take another workplace action that affects the community. So we would urge the public or the customers to reach out to US Foods and urge them to come back to the table and bargain a fair contract." To hear the audio click the following link
