AT&T Workers Strike for Three Days

Chicago, IL - More than 40,000 AT&T workers went on strike May 19-21, demanding that the company commit to “bargaining that addresses affordable benefits, fair wages and job security” and stop its “pervasive offshoring of jobs to low-wage contractors, which eliminate good jobs and hurt customer service,” the Communications Workers of America said May 19.

Boycotts, Audit Loom as Clare Rose Defies Strikers

New York, NY - Small businesses on Long Island are joining strikers against Clare Rose, the sole distributor of Anheuser-Busch products and craft beers such as Blue Point and Greenport, by boycotting the company, refusing deliveries and displaying boycott signs in their store windows.

Mexican Phone Operators Win 4.2% Raise

Mexico City - The union representing more than 60,000 operators at Telmex, Mexico’s quasi-monopoly telephone and telecommunications company, ratified a contract May 16 that will give them a 4.2% wage increase and avert a strike scheduled for May 25.
