Carrier Union Leader Says Trump ‘Lied His Ass Off’

Indianapolis, IN - United Steelworkers Local 1999 President Chuck Jones told the Washington Post Dec. 6 that Donald Trump had “lied his ass off” when telling workers at the Carrier air-conditioner plant here Dec. 1 that he’d worked out a deal to save more than 1,100 jobs. Carrier executives later told Jones that only 730 of the production jobs would stay, and 550 members of Local 1999 would be laid off.

Indianapolis IN - President-elect Donald Trump’s Nov. 29 deal with the Carrier Corporation to give it $7 million in tax breaks will preserve about 800 jobs at its air-conditioner plant here—but another 600 workers will still be laid off, and Carrier’s parent company, United Technologies, will still close another plant in Huntington.
