Washington, DC - As soon as a worker perceives he or she is in danger of loosing a job, a condition of severe stress sets in which causes various health problems. Job insecure individuals will not be able to maintain good health and with time, will suffer from chronic diseases.

The thought of a job loss is so stressful that employees can suffer from both physical and psychological problems. In some cases heart disease develops. Even the remote possibility of losing his or her job will make the average American sick.

Those affected emotionally and physically by the approaching employment termination are more likely to be male, racial minorities, those with less than a college degree, and 45-64 years old. These males are also more likely to be obese and smoke, have short sleep duration, and not engage in regular physical activity. Females who are affected by the impending job loss often experience worsening of general health and pain disorders which include, migraine and neck pain.
