Chicago, IL – Suburban Chicago school bus drivers are suing Student Transportation of America for stealing over $500,000 in wages. Arise Chicago, an interfaith worker rights organization, says Student Transportation of America stole the wages by having workers work off the clock.

Arise Chicago estimates that this wage theft cost each school bus driver an average of $2,975 a year. The workers filed their suit in federal district court. Arise Chicago says it has tried to contact Student transportation of America about the alleged wage theft, but the company has not responded to written requests to meet with Chicago area religious leaders. More than fifty Chicago religious leaders signed a statement calling on the company to pay its workers properly. To hear the audio click the following link
