Washington, DC – I was lucky enough to be part of the team who helped elect President Obama in 2008, and I was there when we did it again in 2012. I remember how it felt to see the results come in. I remember how grateful I was to know that I was standing with so many people who had worked so hard to make those victories possible.
So I'm pretty sure I can say with confidence that the American people made their voices heard in both those elections. Which is why I find the GOP's argument that President Obama shouldn't get to nominate a justice to fulfill the vacancy in the Supreme Court so ridiculous. It's another attempt by Republicans to act as if the presidency of Barack Obama is somehow illegitimate.
So let's send these Republicans a message — waiting a year for the next president to nominate the next Supreme Court justice is unacceptable.
