Staten Island, NY — On Tuesday September 8th, the Detectives Endowment Association, which represents 17,000 active and retired New York Police Department Detectives,  endorsed Michael E. McMahon for Staten Island District Attorney. McMahon has already received the endorsement of the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, the Sergeant’s Benevolent Association, the Lieutenants Benevolent Association and the Captain’s Endowment Association.

In total, the five unions represent all of the 35,000 active uniformed members of the NYPD and tens of thousands of retired members.

“We are proud to endorse Michael McMahon in this important race. As someone with whom we have worked closely over the years on issues that affect the labor and law enforcement communities, we are confident that McMahon will uphold the high principles and performance we have come to expect from the District Attorney’s Office in Staten Island,” said Michael Palladino, President of the Detectives Endowment Association.

McMahon has been a Staten Island trial lawyer for over 25 years, appearing in courts at all levels throughout New York State. He previously served the people of Staten Island as a Civic Association President, New York City Council Member, and Member of Congress. Currently he is a Partner at Herrick Feinstein. He is running for District Attorney of Staten Island with the backing of the Democratic, Conservative and Independence parties.

“Although I’m proud to have the support of every New York City law enforcement union, to have the support of New York City’s detectives is particularly meaningful for this campaign. These are the men and women who work with the District Attorney’s office each and every day investigating crimes and bringing criminals to justice. To have their endorsement of my leadership and our campaign’s vision for the office is truly humbling. I look forward to partnering with them to keep Staten Island safe,” said District Attorney candidate Michael McMahon.
