NEW YORK, NY – Uniformed Firefighters Association (UFA) President Gerard Fitzgerald issued the following statement on the helicopter crash in western Iraq that occurred on Thursday, March 15, 2018:
“The deadly crash in western Iraq was a horrific tragedy. Among the seven service members on board were two members of the New York City Fire Department. All indications show that this was an accident during routine movement.

Lt. Christopher Raguso, 39, and Fire Marshall Christopher “Tripp” Zanetis, 37, were brave men doing the work and dedicating their lives to protecting this country. Both were members of the New York City Fire Department who spent years protecting this city before going to serve our country in the Armed Forces.

Their service and dedication to this nation will never be forgotten, and our thoughts and prayers are with all seven victims, and their families, that were lost in this tragic accident.”
