New York, NY – Local 812 is in a struggle with Clare Rose, a privately owned Long Island beer distributor of Budweiser, Bud Light, and related brands to preserve good jobs and benefits in the beverage industry.

To date, the company has said that they believe they are at impasse and imposed their draconian final offer, which left IBT Local 812 members no alternative but to strike. The company has since indicated that they plan to permanently replace these workers.

We are asking for your support on behalf of the 130 members employed at Clare Rose. Clare Rose is one of the largest beverage distributors in the country and IBT Local 812 union has represented its workers for many years. Labor relations have steadily deteriorated since the third generation of the Rose family took the helm in recent years.

Clare Rose is a very profitable, but instead of rewarding workers for their efforts they are demanding: A 30% Reduction in Wages;

Elimination of the Defined Benefit Pension Plan; Elimination of a Long-standing Salary Continuation Program; Elimination of Disability Payments.

Many of the Local 812 members who deliver, sell, and merchandise Clare Rose products have held their jobs for decades. They simply could not continue to support their families or retire with security with the contract that Clare Rose is offering.

Furthermore, Local 812 won’t allow Clare Rose to erode the high standards that generations of union members have fought for in the beverage industry. This company has received hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxpayer-funded Industrial Development Agency benefits. Yet they chose to use out of state non-union labor to build their new headquarters. Now they want to drastically reduce the compensation of their workforce while collecting public subsidies.

They need our help to win this fight. Any Support you can give would be greatly appreciated.

If you wish to make a donation to their Strike Fund please make your check out to “The Local 812 Defense Fund.”

Checks can be mailed to either the LI Federation of Labor located at 390 Rabro Drive, Hauppauge, NY or IBT Local 812 located at 445 Northern Boulevard, Great Neck, NY 11021.
