Washington, DC – National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) Acting Chairman Philip Miscimarra and General Counsel Richard Griffin, Jr. have named Paul Murphy as the new Regional Director for the Agency’s Region 3 Office in Buffalo, New York.
The Region 3 Office is responsible for conducting elections, investigating Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) Charges, and protecting the right of Workers to act collectively to improve their wages and working conditions throughout most of the States of New York State and Vermont.
With nearly 40 years of service to the NLRB, Murphy most recently served as the Assistant to the Regional Director in the Buffalo (Region 3) Regional Office.
He succeeds Rhonda P. Ley who recently retired from the Agency.
A native of New York’s Finger Lakes Region, Murphy received his B.S. in Economics from the State University of New York at Geneseo in 1978 and received a Masters Degree in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations in 1980.
Murphy started his career with the Agency as a Co-Op Field Examiner in Cleveland (Region 8) in 1979 and returned there as a full-time Field Examiner in 1980.
Murphy was transferred to Region 3 in 1982 and was subsequently promoted to Supervisory Examiner in 1997 and then to Assistant to the Regional Director in 2007.
