MCU 100 Years Old

New York, NY – This year, 2016,  the Municipal Credit Union celebrated its centennial. Doors were first opened in October 15, 1916 at the Manhattan’s Municipal Building with the name Credit Union of Employees Conference Committee.

Municipal Credit Union (MCU) is the oldest credit union in New York State and one of the oldest and largest in the country. Since its inception, MCU continues its growth and importance. MCU now serves more than 400,000 members. Headquartered in New York City, MCU has assets of over $2.4 billion and offers a full range of financial services.

With branches in New York City, Westchester and Long Island, members have access to the credit union’s large and growing ATM network. Eligibility to open accounts at MCU is available to NYC and Yonkers municipal workers; state and federal employees working in the five boroughs; health care professionals; and qualifying retirees. MCU deposits are federally insured to $250,000.
