Maf Misbah Uddin has won his sixth consecutive three year-term as president of Local 1407 of District Council 37 AFSCME, accountants and actuaries for New York City. The May 11 election came unopposed. Uddin is the first Bangladeshi elected president of a municipal union in the United States. He is also the treasurer of DC 37.

"I am deeply honored and eternally grateful to the membership of Local 1407 for giving me the honor of being their president for another three years," Uddin said. "There is nothing that gives me greater joy than helping the magnificent members of Local 1407 in any way that I can. I have worked very hard the past fifteen years and will work even harder the next three years in serving the members and looking out for their best interests."
Others elected unopposed included Jed Matalon, vice president; Yvette Burke-Forehand, secretary and Felicia Gilkes-Cox, seargent-at-arms. Trustees William Andersen, Shital Biswas, and Verena Richards were also elected. As well as DC 37 Delegates Arlene Aikens, Ajay Chakraborty, Vijay Kohli, David M. Low, Jed Matalon, and Franklin Taylor. Elected delegates to the Central Labor Council included Rick L. Jenkins and Evette L. Kersellius. All the victorious candidates are members of the Millennium Slate.
