North Bergen, NJ – Harold J. Daggett, President, International Longshoremen’s Association, AFL-CIO has been named to two Executive Council Committees with the American Federation of Labor, Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO).   ILA President Daggett was elected to the AFL-CIO Executive Council in September 2013, and now will serve on two important Executive committees.

“I am honored to expand my service to the AFL-CIO by my appointment to these two important committees,” said ILA President Daggett.   “The International Affairs Committee can help the ILA as we expand our role and influence with Maritime unions around the world.  Coupled with our involvement and affiliations with the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) and International Dockers’ Council (IDC), the ILA is well positioned to strengthen and enforce our contracts and help other unions to likewise.”

“It’s vital for our members and our union that we will have a voice in International Affairs and National Legislative Policy,” added Mr. Daggett.   “I thank AFL-CIO President Trumka for giving our union that voice.”
