As voters across the state consider Proposition One, which would allow destination resort casinos, the ground-breaking contract at Resorts World New York reveals the potential benefit of the gaming industry for hard working New Yorkers.

The Hotel Trades Council has established a model for what economic development should be in our state. The workers and their union under the leadership of Peter Ward have ensured that the jobs at Resorts World will be long-term, family-sustaining union jobs that lift workers out of poverty.

This is a victory, not only for 1400 employees at the racino, but for the future of the middle class in New York.
