New York, NY – The Uniformed Fire Officers Association member Lieutenant James McGowan has been elected Secretary-Treasurer of The New York Professional Fire Fighters Association.
As Secretary-Treasurer, Mr. McGowan will be responsible for the financial reporting and organizational governance of the association that represents over 18,000 men and women working full-time as members of municipal fire departments across the state.
Lieutenant McGowan was appointed to the FDNY in August 1986, assigned to Engine 43 and later to Ladder 59. In November 1997, he was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned to the 6th Division. He was later assigned to Ladder 58. Mr. McGowan has spent nearly two decades as a firefighter. Recently he was re-elected as the Uniformed Fire Officers Association representative for the Fire Lieutenants of New York City, as well as previously serving as Executive Vice President of the New York State Professional Fire Fighters Association.
The New York Professional Fire Fighters Association (NYSPFFA) represents over 18,000 men and women working full-time as members of municipal fire departments across the state. NYSPFFA advocates on behalf of members who serve in 106 local unions in the 41New York counties.
