New York, NY – Starting on November 12th, EmblemHealth and LaborPress will honor City of New York employees and labor leaders across New York at the 9th Annual Heroes of Labor Awards ceremony. There will be three virtual events on November 12, November 19, and December 2, celebrating and honoring the work of key individuals working tirelessly to keep all of us safe. In the face of the pandemic’s continued spread, our brave New York workers and their unions have protected our communities and deserve to be honored—even as we celebrate virtually.
The Heroes of Labor Awards, hosted by EmblemHealth and LaborPress, were initiated a decade ago to spotlight the significant contributions made by union members who protect New York City. This year, at a time of a pandemic, it is important to acknowledge how individuals make a difference for all of us who live here. We honor those who maintain, protect, and keep New York City safe, secure, and healthy—including engineers, firefighters, maintenance workers, and health care professionals. Our heroes, being honored this year, bravely go to work every day to keep the city running and all of us protected.
During these events, we will feature speakers and honorees from the following labor organizations:
- 32BJ SEIU
- Uniformed Firefighters Association Local 94
- Operating Engineers Local 94
- Uniformed EMT’s, Paramedics & Fire Inspectors, Local 2507, DC 37, AFSCME
- 1199 SEIU
- NYS Nurses Association
- Uniformed Fire Officers Association
- Operating Engineers Local 30
- Doctors Council, SEIU
- Uniformed Fire Alarm Dispatchers Benevolent Association
- Operating Engineers Local 891
- Uniformed EMS Officers Union FDNY, Local 3621, DC 37, AFSCME
These stories will inspire, energize, and recognize individuals whose commitment, work, and dedication make our community better, stronger, and healthier. We celebrate the honorees, their unions, and all union members who make such a difference for all of us.
