CSEA Westchester County Members Approve Contract

October 10, 2018

By Stephanie West

NEW YORK, NY – Members of CSEA Westchester County, the largest union representing Westchester County workers, have approved a new collective bargaining agreement. The last contract expired seven years ago.

Voting by mail ballot was conducted by the American Arbitration Association. A ballot count took place on October 5, 2018 at AAA headquarters in New York City.  A majority of the CSEA membership voted in favor of the contract.

“We are pleased to announce that a majority of the membership has approved and ratified the memorandum of agreement between CSEA and Westchester County, said CSEA Westchester County Unit 9200 President Karen Pecora. We understand that there were differences of opinion amongst our members during this process, but all voices were heard, all the votes were counted, and we are ready to move forward with this contract. At this point, it is up to the county executive and the Board of Legislators to ratify the agreement.”

CSEA Southern Region President Billy Riccaldo added  “After such a long period of negotiations with the previous county administration, we are fortunate to have been able to reach an agreement with the current county executive that allows us to move forward and look toward the future. I am grateful to our member activists who have devoted countless hours of their time to negotiating and advocating on behalf of their co-workers.”

The previous contract expired at the end of 2011.

ONE COMMENT ON THIS POST To “CSEA Westchester County Members Approve Contract”

Karen Pecora sold out the half the membership with lies and the county workers will soon realize how detrimental this contract will be when they start paying into their medical. The cost of healthcare has soared and will only get higher. New hires will pay 20 percent into medical. What a joke. You will never find skilled workers to come and work for Westchester County again. They are so out of touch with their pay scale and the rest of the tri state area. A massive flight has been underway for the past 3- 4 years and it will only get worse. Welcome to tier 6 where you work till 67 and pay into your retirement til the day you die. Watch how many services become privatized in the upcoming years. The worst contract i have ever seen in my long career..
