Queens, NY—In December airport workers delivered petitions containing 2,000 signatures to Pat Foye, the executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the agency responsible for the region’s three major airports, asking the agency for a paid holiday on Dr. Martin Luther King day. The workers say the Port Authority hasn’t responded to their requests, so they rallied and then occupied LaGuardia Bridge on 94th Street and Ditmars Boulevard. According to 32BJ SEIU, the union organizing airport workers, 32 people were arrested including city and state elected officials. Watch video of arrests
