AFGE Terms Trump Climate Policy ‘More Toxins Spewed’

Washington, DC – The union representing Environmental Protection Agency workers called President Donald Trump’s environmental policies “a continued assault on the country’s top-line of defense for community health.”

In a statement Apr. 4, American Federation of Government Employees President J. David Cox Sr. cited Trump’s Mar. 27 executive order to remove restrictions on carbon-dioxide emissions from coal-fired power plants and his proposed 31% cut in the EPA’s budget. “If the administration continues to hack away at the EPA and push more work to the cash-strapped state and local governments, there will be dire consequences for generations to come,” Cox said. “He is hurting the clean-energy industry and driving up future health-care costs for the citizens who will suffer as a result of having more toxins spewed into America’s air and water.” Read more
