Advocating for Fairness in the Workplace

Washington, DC – ”In this month’s election, voters spoke loudly and clearly about their economic anxiety and frustration, their fear that they won’t be able to provide for their families no matter how hard they work. Blocking the overtime rule, which would have given millions of Americans a raise, is a cruel slap in their face.

“President-elect Trump ran as a champion for those struggling to get by. This is his first chance to show us, not just tell us. If he’s serious about his campaign promises, he will call for an appeal of the district court decision, embracing the overtime rule and doing everything possible to help working people get the fair pay they deserve.”

AFSCME’s 1.6 million members provide the vital services that make America happen. With members in hundreds of different occupations — from nurses to corrections officers, child care providers to sanitation workers — AFSCME advocates for fairness in the workplace, excellence in public services and prosperity and opportunity for all working families.
